The New moon of the Holy Month of Dhul Qa'dah for the year 1430 A.H. was sighted on Monday, October 19th, 2009 in Orlando, Florida. There was no other sighting reported anywhere in North America (United States and Canada).
 
According to the rulings of Grand Ayatullah Syed Sistani (may Allah prolong his life) of differing horizons, it was concluded that Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 is the 1st day of the month of Dhul Qa'dah for the year 1430 A.H. for all communities in the United States only.
 
All communities in Canada should observe the beginning of the month of Dhul Qa'dah on Wednesday, October 21st, 2009.

 
For those momineen who are the followers (Muqalleed) of Ayatullah Al Khoi, Tuesday, October 20th will be the 1st day of the month of Dhul Qa'dah for the year 1430 A.H. in all of North America.
