The Shia Ithna Asheri Jamaat of Toronto held its grand opening of The Jaffari Community Center, a mosque and a multi purpose hall in Toronto, Canada on Saturday, August 8th, 2009. The ceremony was a weekend of fun-filled events, including sports festival, carnival, BBQ, and bazaar. The events started on the night of the 15th of Shabaan and the ribbon cutting ceremny was performed by the President of The World Federation.
The weekend long ceremonies were attended by local dignitaries and politicians as well as guests and invitees from our world wide communities.
July 24th and 25th, 2009
The Minnesota Jamaat hosted a two-day comprehensive course on Family Ethics on July 24th and 25th, 2009. The presenter was Sheikh Mohammed Ali Ismail of Damascus, Syria. This is one of the Continuing Personal Development (CPD) courses offered by NASIMCO, in partnership with The World Federation.
During these two days, participants (including youth, Madressah teachers, and seniors) were led through various aspects of family life and marriage. Some of the comments on the event were:
"It was amazing to hear about the attributes of Allah (SWT) and how they can be applied to our daily life."
"It made so much sense of our daily lives once the things were put into perspective, it's amazing to see it in a very different way."
